1MR by BPI Sports is a pre-workout supplement that is supposed to provide you with the energy you need to get a good workout. 1MR, which stands for 1 More Rep, is designed to get you through that elusive one more rep that sometimes just seems like you can never make it through.
I do a lot of research on the supplements I choose to take, mostly because I hate wasting money on crappy products. While I found tons of reviews for 1MR, I was surprised that there were so few available from women who take it. I mean, come on, I can't be the only chic that wants to get an awesome workout can I? Well, with that being said I used the information available and decided it was worth a shot.
Just to be clear, I am not a jacked up female that looks like a dude. I want to have muscles, but I am not looking to compete in the next Muscle Woman championship. I just want something that will help me get somewhat ripped at the gym, even when I really don't feel like hitting the gym after a long day.
I have been using 1MR for almost a year, so I think I have a pretty good idea of whether it works or not. I think a supplement needs to provide you with what it says it will in order to be deemed as something that works, and I have to say that this supplement WORKS!!
While I don't think this is the most important feature of any supplement, I think it can make a big difference in how long a person can use it. I am nuts for anything watermelon flavored, and I love the 1MR watermelon! It has the perfect sweetness (though I am not sure how since it does not have any added sugar), and tartness. I mix a scoop of 1MR with 20 ounces (150ml) of bottled water and ice, and it is definitely one of the best tasting pre-workouts (PWO's) I have tried.
I was also surprised with how well this mixes. Many of the others I tried always seemed to have chunks that just would not go away, but this was never a problem with 1MR. I just throw everything into my shaker bottle, shake it for a few seconds, and it turns out perfectly. I am rather slow at drinking things, so I did notice that I have to re-shake it a couple of times before I finish it, but I don't really see that as a very big deal.
This stuff is powerful!! It has some serious stimulants in it, including 300 mg of caffeine. Now, I have a pretty serious caffeine addiction for the most part, but the first time I took 1MR I was ready to jump out of my skin! Within 25 minutes of drinking it, I was so jacked up and ready to go that I absolutely could not sit still. By the time I actually made it to the gym, I was so ready to get going on the weights that I was almost beside myself. I also noticed that I got a distinct tingle, which I know was from the L-Alanine. I am a tanner as well, and I use lotions with a tingle factor. The burning sensation I got from 1MR was pretty similar to what I get from my tanning lotions, so I did not find it bothersome at all.
Even though I am pretty tolerant of stimulants, I must admit that the first few times I used 1MR it was pretty sketchy. While I had great energy for my workouts and cardio, I was also super jittery, kind of like I was cracked out or something. I was able to get through my workouts easily, and work out for a lot longer than usual, but I had to push through the jitters and anxiousness to get there. I would also caution anyone with an overly sensitive stomach to avoid this, there are not many things that bother me, but I was seriously nauseous the first few times I used it.
After the first two times of taking 1MR and dealing with the side effects, rather than just chuck the rest of the tub in the trash, I decided to see if I could make some adjustments. I started taking half a scoop (as per recommendations from other reviews). I was hesitant to try this because I was afraid it would just make it so that I didn't get any effects. However, the half scoop serving of 1MR gave me the boost I needed, without all the less than wonderful side effects. I used it this way for the first tub, and then bumped it up to the full scoop on the next one. So far, the adjustment worked great, and I can use the full scoop with no issues.
The extra boost in energy that I get from 1MR has definitely helped me see some pretty great results. I can work out harder, and with more focus, and this has helped me see serious results. My body fat percentage has dropped, and my muscles have much more definition than they ever had before I started using 1MR. I think this is kind of a no-brainer, if you have the energy to work out harder and push through your workouts, you are going to see results. When you have a pre-workout supplement that gives you so much energy and focus, you really do not notice the pain and fatigue, hence the 1 more rep ideology.
I think the price of 1MR is great. It is much cheaper than some of the other pre-workout supplements available. Each tub lasts for about 28 workouts, unless of course you do the half scoop, which allows you to use the same tub for nearly two months. I get mine for around $49.95 at Supplement Express( www.supplementexpress.com.au ), which I think is a pretty good price for a supplement that actually works and gives you results.
I would have to give 1MR a 10 out of 10 as far as PWO's go. It has a pretty amazing taste that is more than tolerable, and it mixes better than any other I have tried. I get some seriously insane energy every time I take this supplement, and its effects are completely noticeable. I noticed that a lot of reviewers complained about becoming tolerant to 1MR after using it for a while. As I said, I have been using this for almost a year, and I have not noticed myself getting tolerant to the stimulant effects. I'm guessing this is just a personal thing from person to person.
One thing I would say that takes away from 1MR's greatness would be the fact that there is a significant crash when it wears off. I thought this was a tradeoff I could live with considering how well it works in general. You should also remember not to take this in the evening, unless you plan on staying up pretty much all night. The energizing effects are amazing, and they do last for quite a long time afterwards.
If you are ready to take your workouts to the next level so you can really start seeing significant results, I would highly recommend adding 1MR to your workout regimen. Just make sure you and your body can handle the stimulants - if not, adjusting the serving size makes a huge difference.
